Books for Infant Sleep

I am a fierce advocate for books. They are a wonderful source of entertainment and knowledge for everyone-even the smallest infants. Adding in reading a bedtime book can be a great part of a routine to start from the very beginning of a child’s life. Here are a few of my favorite books to read to infants. Do you have others that I should add to my list? Please reach out and let me know-I am always looking to add to my library!

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site

The dreamy cadence, sweet sleepy pictures, and good plot line makes this one of my favorites. It is a long one and I have read it to many children who were soothed to sleep mid-read. This one has been a favorite for many children I have cared for from newborn to preschoolers!

A Book of Sleep

With few words and a simple theme, this book is a perfect choice to pick up after a long exhausting day. It is easy enough to keep even the littlest babies engaged and get them ready for sleep!

I’ll Love You Till The Cows Come Home

This is another long one, but the lighthearted fun, entertaining pictures, and cute rhymes will make it one you won’t mind reading-even after the 100th time your child wants to hear it!

Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Moon is a book I remember being read to me as a child which makes it even more special to read to my children. Is there a classic that you remember that you now can’t wait to read to your children? I have found myself reaching for this book after those long hard days when I need to re-center and be brought back into the moment. Whatever your sentimental book is that brings you back to the moment, I suggest keeping it close by for some extra special bedtime memories!
